FAQs

Do all rooms have balcony?    

Only our Double River View with Balcony and Full View rooms, have balcony. There are also two suites, Panoramic and Terrace, with garden and terrace, respectively.

Which is the price for half-board?    

Douro41 does not have half-board option. However, you can still enjoy all your meals at the hotel.

Is breakfast included?    

Breakfast is included in all rates.

What are the payment methods?    

For reservations that require prepayment, it can be done via credit card through the Redunicre platform, or by bank transfer. Directly at the hotel, it is possible to make payments using  Visa, MasterCard, American Express and cash.

What's included in the rate?    

In addition to the bedroom, all rates include breakfast, access to the Spa facilities (indoor pool, sauna, turkish bath and gym) and outdoor pools.

Are kids allowed to use the swimming pool?    

The indoor pool can be used by children. Between October and May, this use is limited to a timetable from 9am to 4pm. As for the outdoor pools, the Raiva Pool (next to the restaurant) is for adults only, and the Terrace pool has free access, with no time limitation.

How far are you from Porto?    

Douro41 is about 43km away from Porto, which means around a 45min trip.

Which is the closest city?    

Castelo de Paiva is the nearest city to the hotel, located at 15min away (by car), at a total distance of 12km.

How do boat tours work?    

Boat trips are daily and at any time, departing from our pier. They are private, and can last from 1h to 2h, depending on your preference and with an additional cost.

Which is the diference between both rates: Free and Smart?    

Both rates are exclusive from our website. The Free rate has a free cancellation policy until 48h before the arrival date (in low season) or 14 days before arrival (in high season). Payment will be made at the hotel and the reservation will be guaranteed by credit card. The Smart rate features a 10% discount upon the Free rate, and it is non-refundable. Payment of the total amount will be required at the time of booking, and in case of cancellation it will not be returned. The stay can be rescheduled up to 48h before the arrival date (in low season) or 14 days before arrival (in high season).

What can I do around the hotel?    

Besides the activities that you can do at the hotel, we recommend you to visit Arouca, at a distance of 30/40min from the hotel, where you can visit the Paiva Walkways, the Convent, the Serra da Freita or the entire Geopark area. You can also visit the city of Porto, at a distance of 40/45min away. At about 1h40, you can still visit the entire Alto Douro wine region and enjoy some of the most famous wineries.

Can I get to the hotel by boat?    

Yes. If you have your own boat, you can use this way to get to Douro41. You can also leave your boat at our pier without any additional cost.

Do you have charging stations for electric cars?    

We have two charging stations for electric cars. One of them is universal, and the second one is specifically for Tesla cars.

Wich is the maximum capacity for the Deluxe Rooms?    

Due to its dimensions, the maximum capacity of the Deluxe rooms, mountain or river view, is 3 people: either 3 adults or 2 adults + 1 child. In both cases an extra bed is placed.

At what time is check-in and check-out?    

Check-in can be made at any time from 3pm, and check-out is until 12pm.

Do you have a restaurant?    

Yes, we do. Our Raiva Restaurant is available every day from 7:30pm to 10:30pm. We also have the À Terra Bar & Canteen, available from 11am to 10:30pm, where we also serve meals.

Do you have transfer service from and to the Airport?    

Yes, we do. Our transfer services are available, not only for the Airport, but also for other points in Porto city center. For closer trips we also have a taxi service available. Boths services are subjected to na additional fee.

Are there any restaurants near the hotel?    

In the nearest cities there are several typical restaurants that we recommend, with various options of dishes.

Is the reception available 24h?    

The reception is available 24h, every day.

How much is the late check-out?    

Late check-out has no additional fee. It can only be confirmed on the proper day of departure, as it is subjected to availability.

Can I arrive to the hotel earlier than 3pm?    

You can arrive at the hotel at the time that is most convenient for you, and enjoy our facilities right away. However, our team can only guarantee that your room is ready at 3pm.

Do you accept pets in your facilities?    

Douro41 is pet friendly, and for that reason we will be happy to accept your pet. This condition has an additional cost of 20€ per night/pet. As for circulation in the hotel facilities, it is forbidden in the areas of restaurant and bar, spa and outdoor pools.

Can I pay for my stay directly at the hotel?    

In case you opt for a flexible rate, with free cancellation policy, payment can be made directly at the hotel using the method that is most convenient for you. If you choose a non-refundable rate, payment of the full amount of your stay must be guaranteed prior to your arrival.

Which outdoor activities do you recommend to do with kids?    

In the surroundings of the hotel there are two trails along the river, with a low/moderate degree of difficulty, which can be made by adults and children. We also have Kayaks and Stand Up Paddle boards that can be used for free by all of our guests. Boat trips are also an excellent option.

Do all rooms have river view and double bed?    

No, they don't. Our Deluxe Mountain View rooms, as the name implies, have views towards the mountain and they have twin beds. Upon request, and without any additional cost, it is possible to convert the two twin beds into a double bed.

Is it mandatory to use cap in the indoor swimming pool?    

No, it isn't. It is not mandatory to use cap in any of our swimming pools.

Is it posible to smoke in the bedroom?    

Smoking is prohibited in all closed areas of the hotel, including bedrooms. The only exception is for rooms or suites with balcony/terrace, where smoking is allowed in these outdoor areas.

Is there any room adapted for guests with reduced mobility?    

Douro41 has a room adapted for guests with reduced mobility, equipped with all the necessary support conditions. The entire hotel is adapted, once it is possible to make all hits through ramp or elevator.

Do you have connecting rooms?    

Douro41 has 10 connecting rooms. The room adapted for guests with reduced mobility, is also included in this list.

Is there a laundry service available at the hotel?    

Laundry service is available to all guests, for an additional fee.

Do you have a parking lot? How much is it?    

The hotel has a free outdoor parking lot for all guests.

Is there a babysitting service?    

We do have babysitting service. It has an additional fee and must be requested at least 24h in advance.

How much are the massages?    

Our massages and treatments menu is quite varied, so the price will depend on your choice regarding the type of massage and its duration. All treatments can be consulted directly upon your arrival at the hotel, or in advance through our website.

How many rooms does the hotel have?    

Douro41 has a total of 61 rooms, including 6 Suites.

What are the different room types?    

Douro41 has 9 different room types: Deluxe Mountain View, Deluxe River View, Superior River View, Double River View with Balcony, Full View, Douro Suites, Arda Suite, Terrace Suite and Panoramic Suite.

What type of room do you suggest for families of 4 people or more elements?    

For large families we suggest any of our Suites. They are composed by a bedroom area, with a double bed, and a living room, equipped with a sofa bed and where it is still possible to add an extra bed or a baby cot. We also suggest two connecting rooms, or two rooms next to each other.

Can the swimming pools be used by people that are not staying at the hotel?    

The use of all swimming pools are exclusive to guests.

After the check-out, can I still use the hotel's facilities?    

After check-out you can stay at the hotel and use all of our services, including restaurant, bar and swimming pools.

How much is na extra bed? And a baby cot?    

The extra bed has an additional cost of 60€ per night for adults, and 40€ for children, from 4 to 12 years old.  Baby cots do not have any additional cost.

Can I have my meals in the bedroom?   

Yes, you can. We have a special Room Service menu available, with all meals that you can enjoy 24 hours a day. Breakfast can also be served in the room.
